Japan's Seafood Imports Fall Sharply in June as Ongoing Consumption Declines, Strong Yen Deter Sales
Ongoing declines in Japanese seafood consumption coupled with shifts in foreign exchange rates contributed to declines in Japan’s seafood import volumes and values in June.
According to a report from Japan’s Finance Ministry, seafood imports in June were down 12.4 percent by volume at 159,868 ton. The value of those imports was down 16.5 percent to Y110,767.
